partner yoga

Although Partner Yoga is comparatively a new concept in West, it has ancient roots in Tantric Yoga. Tantra, like Partner Yoga, is a word with many common misconceptions, including that it is all about sex, you need to be and for lovers only. For those of you unfamiliar with this practice, Partner Yoga is two or more people joining together to deepen the impact and experience of a yoga practice. Sharing time where you are focused on your own bodies, often with non-verbal communication, can be a wonderful way to spend quality time together.

Partner Yoga creates the opportunity to be in an interdependent partnership. Unlike partner-assisted yoga, where one person is doing the yoga posture and another is assisting, Partner Yoga postures are mutually beneficial. There both the person is doing yoga, creating an inner-inter connection and guiding each other. In Partner Yoga, there is no giver or receiver in a posture, so all partners are fully engaged in their own experience. Partner Yoga is equally beneficial for both partners.

Practicing with your life partner can be very intimate as it can bring you closer, deepen a connection and revive a love that was lost. Your partner will enjoy the closeness and getting all sweaty with you.  The Partners Yoga class is an ideal class for couples, partners or family members, who want to unwind and connect with one another in a relaxing, supportive way.

Partner yoga is a great way to experience yoga postures in a whole new way. It can enhance the asana experience by providing deeper stretch, an increased sense of grounding and more challenge to balance and coordination. Partner Yoga is a great way to learn surrender, build trust, and deepen intimacy. Partner Yoga can be practiced by anyone – no previous yoga experience is necessary. Partner Yoga involves different movements and asanas to focus the mind and increase strength, stamina and flexibility which are done in the spirit of nurturing and play. Partner yoga is a great way for couples to gain flexibility, strength and trust. This type of yoga is great for date nights, Valentine’s Day or any time.
