The Shamanic Breathwork Process, a powerful healing modality that balances body, mind and soul through a combination of breathing, inner journeying, cathartic movement and chakra-attuned music,  is a power­ful heal­ing process that inspires indi­vid­u­als to remem­ber and recon­nect with their own inner healer.

Shamanic Breathwork Process, developed by Linda Star Wolf,  is actually a practice that uses breathing and other elements to allow access to non-ordinary states for the purpose of self-exploration. Emphasizing the practice as a way to access the most elevated states of consciousness and the deepest states of meditation, Shamanic gurus show how Breathwork can be applied to transpersonal, existential, past life, chakra, Kundalini, shamanic, and other experiences.

Much like traveling to sacred places or ingesting entheogens, this practice can be used to enter altered states of consciousness, connect to cosmic consciousness, increase paranormal abilities, and awaken the shaman within. Breathwork can also be used to resolve old traumas and shapeshift unproductive modes of thinking in order to move beyond them. Shamanic breathing is faster and deeper than usual; generally no other specific instructions are given before or during the session as to the rate, pattern, and nature of breathing. The experience is entirely internal and largely non-verbal, without interventions.

Through this breathwork the ego is released, and the Higher Self surfaces to reveal what is needed at that moment – spiritual inspiration or guidance, deep healing of emotional wounds, release of dysfunctional behaviors, etc. Shamanic wisdom teach­ings and prin­ci­ples support the inte­gra­tion of the ego, soul and spirit. Shamanic Breathing exercise features a unique blend of ancient shamanism and deep, circular breathing to journey into non-ordinary states of consciousness. Shamanic work can be integrally informed, however, and need not be some New Age load of regressive pre-trans fallacies. If one understands the process in terms of psychological processes more than as some literal journey to the underworld or whatever, we can avoid the pitfalls in the way shamanism has been co-opted by the New Agers. Shamanic and holotropic breathing breaks us out of breathing in rythm to the intellect, its shallow nature, and its inability to let go. it allows the body to breathe as an organic process.
